Play date

This is my sweet niece and my baby girl just hanging at the house. If you look to the right you can see the blanket that I tried to keep Mandy on so that she did not get on the carpet but once she started crawling...that was all over. I always vacuumed before I put her down but you know what happens with carpets YUCKY. That is why I like tile.

My little munchkin

I love that baby girl smile!
It's Christmas and Mandy is showing off the apron that Gran made for her
This was at a birthday party, I think it is Mandy's but it also could be her baby brothers
Aw........Someone took this picture of Mandy from the ground...? I wonder who it was. Look at that sweet face...... I wish the quality was better but it is not to bad for a picture that is 25 years old

My sweet bike rider

Look at that sweet little baby girl. She loved her little bike and would scoot around the house everywhere. It was not to long after she started to walk that I began a four year running spree lol not really but she was everywhere all the time and I was constantly looking around to see just what she was up to. She was always such a good child. People would comment to me all the time on how sweet she was. I of course agree mightily so. Aw.........looking at that sweet face my heart hurts, I miss my baby girl so much!

My Mom is a Survivor

"My Mom is a Survivor"

My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.

I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.

But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving mom,
who thinks of me each day.

She wears a smile for others...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door I see
tears flowing from her eyes.

My mom tries to cope with death
to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.

As I watch over my surviving mom
through Heaven's open door...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore.

I know that doesn't help her...
or ease the burden she bears.
So if you get a chance, go visit her...
and show her that you care.

For no matter what she says...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

Mandy and Santa

My sweet baby girl loved Christmas and I have a picture of her and her brother with Santa for almost every year. At this age she already knew the big secret but she love the idea. Christmas for Mandy was a magical time and she really tried to make it a very special day for her whole family. Mandy and her father would get up at 0'dark thirty and start preparing Christmas breakfast for all the people that would be visiting us that day. It was their most favorite time together just him and her daughter and papa (as she called him) together having fun laughing and talking and working side by side. Mandy loved her papa with all her heart. I can remember when she and he would go to daddy daughter dances and when they came home from the dance they would be laughing about what had happened and how much fun they had had that night, they were truly special times for the both of them.

What was I thinking?

This is Mandy in the front room, I was a little bit germ-a-phobic and would not put her on the floor unless I vacuumed first. We lived in the snow and there were lots of yucky stuff that would get tracked into the house so the front room was off limits to shoes of any kind.
Looking at the picture I was horrified to see the power cords stretching from the TV to the plug under the bird cage. I started thinking to myself "What the heck!" Why did I allow her in there with all that going on and the danger involved with the cords and the TV. When I realized that I never left her unattended and watched her like a hawk. I can remember that the lady's room was down the hall and I had a child's chair there in the outer room and I would put her there and she would play with books under supervision but for some reason I thought that this picture would be cute with her by the kitchen chair....she was teething and the cold metal felt nice to her poor gums
LOOK at my matchy, matchy couch and blanket though........... boy was I styling lol NOT

Purple Party

My sweet baby's. This was a purple party that I gave for my baby girl as a morale booster so that she would be surrounded by family and friends that loved her and could show her support during her treatment. We called it the purple party because her favorite color was purple and so we decorated the house in purple
I love this picture a lot, Mandy and her husband and uncle
This is my baby girl getting a hug from my sweet Uncle whom I love with all my heart and miss sorely. He is with my baby girl and they are both out of pain today, also his wife my sweet auntie and their two sons my cousins..........it has been a hard couple of years in my family
I was so very surprised by my cousin showing up from southern California and he sure made my day by doing so! Such a truly great surprise for me.
One of Mandy's grandmothers
Another of Mandy's grandmothers
Here we are after the party was almost over and Mandy had taken off her wig......She is standing with a good friend of the family. She is smiling in the picture but she is also exhausted and ready for bed. You can see on the wall behind them a purple and pink paper, that was a caring bridge guest book post that someone had made to her. She had a journal web site called caring bridge that she would put posts on so that she could share her experience and update people on her illness and I had copied them all out on paper and posted them all over the walls of the kitchen and front room. There were over twenty five pages with any where between one to five posts from her guest book of encouragement that people had left her. I loved the support so much that I posted them up all over the house for people to see and especially for her to see how many people loved her....but she already knew that.
This is Mandy with her best-est and most truest friend ever and her sweet family (but her sweet husband was not there :-( I am so happy that Mandy was friends with this sweet woman! She loved my baby girl with all her heart! and I will never as long as I live forget the love she gave to my baby girl! I love you for that sweetheart! Thank you! <3
Mandy's brother and my sweet precious baby boy
This is Mandy's papa and he is wearing a purple hat in her honor! I have a bunch more pictures but do not have the permission of all the people to post them but I thought that these were some to give you an idea of the fun we had that day

Bower Mansion Revisited

Mandy and her brother are here on a play tower at the park by the Mansion.
Here Mandy is wearing her sweat suit that I made for her, I also made one for her brother
Here are my baby's just having fun swinging
Baby girl waving to me from "The top of the world" they have good imaginations
On an earlier post I talked about the hill here on the park grounds and this is it. Now from this picture it does not look like a large hill but Mandy's brother is running full out just before he takes a nose dive down the rest of the hill!
We would come here often and today was nice because we had the whole park to our self's. Mandy is standing here waiting for her brother, they took several turns running down the hill then rolling up and down. Life was so sweet and I was happy with my sweet baby's. I miss my daughter till it causes me physical pain but am happy that my son is still here on earth with me, if I had my choice they both would be but it is in God's hands not mine! He had bigger plans for her and called her home. Maybe I didn't stress to him hard enough how much I still needed her here with me but extremely grateful for my son

Crazy hat day

At the School that Mandy attended they held once a year "Crazy Hat Day" and all the children would create, make, purchase or borrow hats of all kinds and wear them to school. This one is what she and I made for that day. She wanted a picture of it, Mandy is so cute here! She is not turning around in this picture, it was just windy that day and so the wind and the way she is standing looks like she is modeling, but she is just trying not to be knocked over. My sweet baby girl always wanted to wear dresses and dress up where ever she went! She did not like to wear pants, even as a small young lady she had a desire to dress very well! My lack of fashion sense did not affect her! Phew!

Mandy's First Birthday

Some where in the cave of lost artifacts (my garage) is a box of old film that has some of this day on it. We had a really old movie maker, not even a camcorder yet that we used on this day. Too bad I do not know where it is.
Mandy did not know what all the excitment was about but she was happy that so many people were all around and smiling and happy and singing to her. Mandy just two weeks before her first birthday started to walk
There is Mandy's sweet cousin next to her. Mandy had fun with all the paper and ribbons she was playing with. Such a happy day!

Visiting the ducks at the pond

There is a pond in a neighborhood in Reno that the ducks gather in very large amounts.
Here are geese and mallards and every now and then you can see seagulls
And here we are! Mandy was a little afraid of the geese I think because they honked loudly, We came here to show her what birds are like up close, she smiled alot and pointed at the different little birds that would come up looking for food. There were signs up asking you not to feed the birds so the bread we brought stayed inside the car. Here Mandy has on a small bonnet because she is suffering from ear infections all the time and so I would keep them covered up to keep dirt out of them. In Reno the wind is constantly blowing and the sand, dirt and grit fly's around in the air. I can remember when the wind was so bad that your eyes would become filled with small particles and made it very difficult to see. Sometimes when we went out into a bluster day Mandy would get stuff in her eyes and poor thing would cry, I tried to keep her head covered as much as possible in between the walk from the house to the car and so on. We made it a game and she would laugh when I would run carrying her.
